I’m Tamara Nelson-Fromm: a PhD student in Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Michigan, studying how people learn computer science. I’m a long time reader and synchronized swimmer, grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota; and received my Bachelor in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May of 2020.
To view more about my current academic pursuits and achievements, you can peruse my website or CV.
I began Comp Sci Creative as an outlet to chronicle my thoughts about research, graduate school, arts, technology, teaching, and literature. I’ve always had a variety of interests, so it’s sort of a catch-all of whatever I tend to be invested in at any moment. I can’t promise you anything content-wise, but the posts will likely wrap back around to academia and books eventually. This is my second blog, the first being a now-defunct Book Review Blog that went under the name Tamaraniac. (which is still my regular social media handle) To view book reviews that were once hosted there, you can search the years 2012-2018 in my book review archive.
